FAQs
The Fiberglass Gutter Company
How is the fiberglass gutter manufactured?
Our fiberglass gutters are handcrafted in Pembroke, Massachusetts using an open mold technique. The mold is created from a wood gutter piece, ensuring an authentic wood grain appearance. We apply gelcoat, followed by multiple layers of fiberglass cloth, and finish with another gelcoat layer. This meticulous process can take up to 8 hours per gutter, depending on the specific profile. What lengths can I get fiberglass gutter and is it seamless?
We manufacture fiberglass gutters in 40-foot lengths. For installations requiring more than 40 feet, we can join sections on-site to create a seamless appearance. Customers can purchase our gutters in either 20-foot or 40-foot lengths.Does your company also do the installation of the product?
Yes, we offer installation services in addition to manufacturing and distributing our fiberglass gutters. We have established pricing tiers to ensure we don't compete with other companies that install our products. How much do fiberglass gutters cost to be installed?
The cost of installation varies based on several factors, including total gutter length, building height, number of corners and outlets, installation challenges, downspout selection, additional accessories, and any necessary repair work. Fiberglass gutters offer significant advantages over wood gutters. They are resistant to rot, require minimal maintenance beyond regular cleaning, and have 40% greater capacity than comparable wood gutters. Additionally, fiberglass gutters eliminate the need for painting or oiling, making them a more durable and low-maintenance option. Is there much expansion and contraction in the product?
Fiberglass gutters experience minimal expansion and contraction compared to other plastic materials. We construct our gutters using techniques similar to boat building, ensuring precise and durable joints that can withstand environmental changes. How much do fiberglass gutters weigh?
The weight of our fiberglass gutters is approximately 1 pound per foot, depending on the profile. This makes them twice as heavy as aluminum gutters but less than half the weight of wood gutters, striking a balance between durability and ease of installation. What is the finish on the product?
We use a molded isophthalic gelcoat finish on our fiberglass gutters. This is the same material used by many boat manufacturers, known for its durability in harsh marine environments. The gelcoat provides excellent resistance to salt spray and UV exposure, ensuring long-lasting performance on your home. How long has this product been used?
Fiberglass gutters have been in use since the 1970s, primarily in commercial and industrial applications. Residential use began approximately 15 years ago. The longevity of these early installations is evident, with homeowners, property managers, and caretakers reporting excellent condition and satisfaction with the product.Do you color the gutters, or are they paintable?
Our fiberglass gutters can be painted if desired. For large orders, we offer the option of custom-colored isophthalic gelcoat applied during the manufacturing process at our factory.
